This past Thursday, I had the privilege of returning to Neutrality Studies for another lively and timely dialogue with
.Our conversation ventured into the fraught terrain of unilateral, unprovoked, and so-called “pre-emptive” strikes—particularly those by Israel and the United States—and why I argue we are trapped not on an escalation ladder, but in an Escalation Hyperloop: a self-perpetuating cycle of aggression and moral myopia.
The West, tragically oblivious to its own contradictions, double standards clings to the illusion of righteousness. Yet urgency demands we exit this hyperloop—before the momentum becomes irreversible.
I invite you to watch the discussion —Pascal's thoughtful audience found it deeply engaging, and their generous feedback in the comments reminded me how crucial these exchanges are. I'd love to hear your perspective as well.
In closing, I revisited the words of Rumi, the sublime Persian poet, which feel achingly pertinent:
“Beyond right and wrong, there is a place—
and I shall meet you there.”
That place, I believe, is where dialogue begins. Let us meet there.
A final note of gratitude: Thank you for joining me on Substack and being here on FuturEarly. If these ideas resonate, please share them with friends and colleagues.
The future does not wait—and neither should we.
Wishing you a week of compassion, clarity and courage,
Ali
